The Stanley Building
STANLEY BUILDING
The recently renovated historical three story brick building, known as the Stanley Building, is the latest project of the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum. Other renovation projects completed by General Franks Museum include the current museum building, the building known as The Creamery, and the old Peet Station. All have been restored with as much historical accuracy as possible and stand as testament to General Franks’ commitment to the preservation of this wonderful southwest Oklahoma town.
The Stanley Building, located at 301 S. Washington in Hobart, Oklahoma, was built in the early 1900’s. It has been home to several furniture stores, an antique shop in the 70’s, and a potato bar. It remained mostly vacant from the 70’s until General Franks acquired it in 2010. Renovations began immediately with replacement of all the old windows. Walls were removed, the beautiful hardwood floors were refinished, Heat and Air was installed, and of course lots of painting was needed to help bring the old girl back to her former glory. She makes a great place to hold our annual Silent Auction and we look forward to this year being our best Auction yet!
